10 DAYS ON THE ISLAND - INSTALLATION
10 DAYS ON THE ISLAND - INSTALLATION
Exhibition preparation and installation in the IXL Atrium, Hobart, Tasmania.
We had over 140 parcels to open and enjoy. The works were individually photographed and prepared for mounting. Some works needed backing, others needed reinforcement and careful handling. We treated all the works with approved archival techniques and materials.
After the work was arranged to its best advantage it was attached to the light-weight hanging panels, each unit measuring over 2 x 1.2 metres. The panels were transported by truck to the site where our team carried out the final assembly and installation.
The IXL Atrium is a heritage-listed building therefore we needed to design and construct a hanging system which used no invasive attachment points to the convict built stone walls. An intricate suspension system was beautifully devised by David Roberts of Artsafe.
We named the panels – Latitude, Longitude, Altitude and Attitude and the artists labels were traced to their work by the use of map coordinates.
